The EXPEDITION Project from a volunteer's perspective

I realise that while I have been blabbing on about various things I have encountered in South Africa, I haven't actually explained why I am here in the first place.

For the past 6 months, I have been on the road volunteering with The EXPEDITION Project, an NGO that has embarked on a 365 day journey 'in search of a nation's stories, dreams and heartbeat'. 200 towns in 365... read more!

Living the Dream

Just occasionally we get an opportunity to experience a totally different way of life.  I have been lucky enough to have done just that, staying with Dave and other volunteers at the GWC camp.

From the outset I sensed this was a unique place where I could really relax and unwind. Yes we did work hard but the sense of achievement was palpable and made the time spent in the reserve, seeing the animals in their natural habitat, having sundowners in the bush or spending evenings round the... read more!

Social Volunteer Program

A family can exist without children, but a child cannot exist without family. In the last two decades the population of Ecuador has doubled with growing incidences of abandoned children and teenage mothers in the streets or hospitals.
The orphanage volunteer program is located in a safe area on the outskirts of Quito, more or less 30 minutes by bus from the capital’s old town or new town. Children end up at the orphanage because they come from drug-addicted... read more!
