Youth Empowerment Program in Kenya
KCEP is a community Based Organization initiated in October 2009 to help spearhead community driven development initiatives and enable needy community groups participate in integrated development to achieve quality livelihood from; orphanage and rehabilitation of street children’s, support vulnerable children, voluntary work to various community projects, Community Savings and loaning , HIV/AIDS trainings & awareness Campaigns, Capacity Building, Organic Farming, Fish Farming, Clay Works, Computer Services and Eco-Tourism and Environmental Management.
The program is also designed to respond to Emuhaya youths’ needs and assets; the KCEP Project aims to empower youth to make sound career and life decisions as they transition from high school to the next phase of their lives. The project is also building the capacity of local institutions and networks to sustain the much-needed services that KCEP will provide. Specifically, the KCEP Project intends to offers youth a series of inter-connected interventions to: build skills, facilitate appropriate career choices, provide employment and/or income generating opportunities, bridge technical and university education opportunities and provide fun and safe spaces.

Mission: To support orphans, vulnerable children and street children through a rehabilitation centre and basic necessities and facilitate needy community groups to participate in integrated activities to achieve quality livelihood.
Facilitation of learning programs at the KCEP centre, establishment of structures at the garden centre,
Empowering minors to be self-reliant i.e. life skills lessons
Elementary child care
Community outreach for agricultural extension and environmental conservation initiatives
marketing and development, and mapping out fragile ecosystems in the community for conservation and protection
Guidance and counseling
Motivational speaking especially to the girls in the centre
Educational development need of the children i.e. Teaching
Training and mentoring youth
Minimum place duration is 4 weeks, volunteers will be working between five to eight hours a day for five days a week. Weekends will be your free days to know more about the local community or plan an excursion to the local towns or touristic areas
Volunteers will be accommodated in home stays where a private room will be provided to the volunteer
2 Weeks - US $260
US $90 for every extra week
What is included: Project accommodation, three meals a day, orientation in Nairobi, airport transfer (upon arrival and departure), project placements, 24/7 emergency support, project/placement supervision and evaluation, project material support
What is not included: Flight, entry visa, insurance covers, local transport, personal communication, vaccinations
