Sports Coaching & Community Outreach

Sports is often the last priority in local schools when funding is limited therefore, we aim to provide an opportunity for local children to develop their love of sports where they may have otherwise missed out. We feel that sports can be an excellent tool for developing social skills such as working as part of a team, and making the right choices in life.

Through our Community Outreach projects we aim to provide opportunities to members of Knysna’s more underprivileged communities. Our projects are aimed at empowering people and moving away from the “hand-out” sentiment as we believe that this is the only way to move forward and develop a nation.

You will give local children the chance to develop their love of sports by assisting with sports workshops, organising matches and inspiring children to be as active as possible. You will also be spending time contributing to our community outreach projects; all of which are established in association with the local communities and monitored on an on-going basis to meet the basic life needs of many of the most underprivileged of our community members.

By joining this programme you will be able to make a real impact and become immersed in the diverse cultures that Knysna has to offer!

Location

Knysna is based in one of the most beautiful parts of South Africa. Stunning views, impressive mountain passes, lush green forests and white sandy beaches.

Knysna itself is nestled on the shores of the Knysna estuary - or Knysna Lagoon, as it is more commonly known. It's the most biologically diverse estuary in South Africa and home to the Knysna Seahorse, the most threatened seahorse species in the world. Knysna is also an avenue to the Tsitsikamma Forest, which stretches from just west of George to the Tsitsikamma River near Humansdorp. This indigenous forest is home to numerous fauna and flora. The forest also houses the worlds's most southerly elephants. Sadly, with only a handful of elephants left, the forset elephants are rapidly becoming part of Knysna's history, rather than Knysna's nature.
